Kannika's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy raw materials for her hammock business to ensure that it continues smoothly despite global economic uncertainty.

Kannika's story

Kannika lives a long distance from any large towns or cities in a small farming village. They have two small children who are both in the local public school and their biggest priority and expenses have gone towards covering schooling expenses to ensure their kids get the education they deserve (supplies, transportation, etc.)! Kannika explains, "Weaving hammocks has given me a steady income that I am able to use to defray those costs, as well as meet household expenses!"

Kannika first began weaving hammocks three years ago and she says, "It is a perfect fit for me! It allows me to work from home and earn a fair wage. Besides covering incidental expenses around the house and helping pay for my children's education, I have been able to buy several things I never could have afforded before. Our house now has a TV, a fan, and a rice cooker. We also have a cell phone! I feel so lucky to be a hammock weaver!

Kannika's loan will ensure that her work isn't impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic and that she is able to invest in raw materials to have steady weaving work throughout the coming year. Especially in this time of global uncertainty, Kannika is grateful for your support to continue empowering her journey!
