Pawitta's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy raw materials to ensure her hammock business continues smoothly despite global uncertainty.

Pawitta's story

Pawitta is known as "Soy" to her friends. She lives with her children in the village of Huay Hom, in the mountains of Phrae, Thailand, but her husband has gone abroad looking for better-paid work. She says, "My husband is working hard to provide for our future, but it is often hard for me to be alone here."

Pawitta was thrilled to begin weaving hammocks - it's safe, flexible, and keeps her out of the back-breaking slash and burn fields. And she can earn enough by hammock weaving to provide for her family's needs and make improvements to their lives. With her increased earnings, she has been able to purchase a refrigerator, a rice cooker, electric fans, and a cellphone!

She says, "Hammock weaving has made it possible for me to be a productive wife and mother for the good of our family until my husband returns to live with us again. Our entire family is better off because I have been able to weave hammocks!" This year, she is looking forward to increasing her earnings with help from her Kiva loan and building a brighter future for her whole family.

Pawitta's loan will also ensure that her work isn't impacted by the global pandemic. Especially in this time of global uncertainty, Pawitta is grateful for your support to continue empowering her journey!
