Kittiya's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy raw materials to ensure her hammock business continues smoothly despite global uncertainty.

Kittiya's story

Kittiya is her first name, but most people just call her Kit. Kit lives in the village of Huay Hom, which is a long way from any major city. She is up in the mountains in rural Phrae Province, far from most industries and businesses.

Kit is married and she and her husband have two children, one of whom goes to school and one who is a preschooler. Her husband has gone to find better work in Korea because their farm isn't productive enough to supply for their family's needs.

Kit is relieved to be able to rely on her hammock weaving skills. She says, "Living at home with two small children and no other source of income would be difficult." She uses the money she makes weaving hammocks to defray living expenses. She has also been able to purchase time-saving conveniences, like an electric rice cooker and a mobile phone.

Now, with help from her Kiva loan, Kit will begin weaving hammocks full-time to provide for her family. She says, "I like the steady income that weaving hammocks gives me. My life has improved a lot over the years since I first started weaving."

Kit's loan will also ensure that her work isn't impacted by the global pandemic. Especially in this time of global uncertainty, Kit is grateful for your support to continue empowering her journey!
