Greetings! My name is Kristen Bailey and I was born and raised on the east side of Cincinnati in Mt. Washington. I’m still a proud resident today and have lived here for 32 years. I am also the owner of Sweets & Meats BBQ. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for bringing people together with good food and what better way to do that than with a great meal! I launched Sweets & Meats BBQ with the help of my partner, Anton Gaffney, in 2014. We started small, with what we had. We bootstrapped and worked our full time corporate jobs, while building the business. We make an outstanding team. I manage FOH Operations, Marketing, Catering & Events. Anton manages BOH Operations and is our Pitmaster. We've grown the business from a roadside pit stop, setting up a tent on weekends to now operating two food trucks and a brick and mortar restaurant in the neighborhood we live in. We'll be opening a second location inside Kroger this fall. All of our dishes are homemade by us, from the rub to the sauce and everything in between! That’s what make’s us unique. I was raised in a single parent home where my mother always gave 110% to my sister and I. My sister had special needs and I can remember how hard my mom worked to provide for us, balancing work, kids, nursing school and life. At 12 years old I asked my mom if I could work at the local Creamy Whip in order to help out. She agreed and I got the job. I've been working ever since. At times I would have 2-3 jobs requiring determination to maintain my focus. It is because of this same determination that I was able to put myself through college. I attribute my incredible work ethic to my mom. She always supported me and inspired me to follow my dreams. She was a big part of Sweets & Meats BBQ and really helped us by volunteering her time during our start up phase. I lost her and my sister unexpectedly in the past two years. It has been devastating, but I am building this legacy to honor them and it motivates me to work harder. I am no stranger to hard work. I graduated from Purcell Marian High School and Wittenberg University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. I worked in sales for 15 years, of which 10 were in the financial industry. I was a banker and loved working with small businesses, thus entrepreneurship came naturally.
