Brenda's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy inputs, such as fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides, to use on her farm so that she can increase her productivity.

Brenda's story

Brenda is a 41-year-old mother of two children living in Eldoret, a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. She is a woman who will always lift her head high despite the many challenges that she faces in life. Brenda is one of the most respected women in Eldoret, in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. She is a very hardworking and self-driven mother. She is known in her village because of her resilience and never-dying nature.

When she learned about Juhudi and Kiva, from a Juhudi Kilimo loan officer, she became interested in the good work that Kiva does to support smallholder farmers. She is happy that she has reliable micro-financing institution and has attended regular training sessions to ensure that she learns about savings and loans. On her farm, she has been keeping dairy cows and nurturing the growth of various crops.

The main challenge that this enterprising woman has often complained of is the high cost of farming inputs in her area. She has requested this loan so that she can buy quality farming inputs, such as fertilizer, pesticides and herbicides, which she plans to use on her farm. With these inputs, Brenda will be assured of a good harvest, which will consequently reflect in her pocket. Lenders, if there is someone you should lend to this 2020, then that person is Brenda!
