Alice's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more stock to meet the high demand.

Alice's story

At this posting, Rwanda has 82 COVID cases and an all-hands-on-deck approach to limiting the spread of this new disease. While economic activity in the country is being limited, the one industry that needs to stay strong is medical and pharmaceutical supply companies. Alice runs a small pharmaceutical company in Rwanda. The business’s main activity is the whole selling of pharmaceutical products and other medical consumables – like masks, sanitizers, paracetamol, and so much more. With limited stock in the country, Rwanda has just 31 ICU beds.

Alice is providing a vital service to ensure that supplies are available, being distributed efficiently, and being sold at a fair price. Along with her spouse, who has an educational background in pharmacy management, Alice has consistently grown her business in Rwanda. Alice is a repeat Kiva borrower, and with the past two loans she purchased needed fixed assets, including six refrigerators for medicine, hiring new staff, and expanding offerings.

Today, Alice has contact with the Rwanda Biomedical Center, the central location for all COVID testing in the country, as well as supporting several of Kigali’s public and private hospitals with medical supplies and medicine. Now is absolutely the right time to invest in the company, as another loan to Alice will help her to meet a spike in demand as hospitals, pharmacies, and medical offices are working round the clock to keep Rwanda safe.
