Gladys's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer and seeds, to boost her crop yields and improve her sales, so that she can earn enough money to educate her children.

Gladys's story

Gladys is 41 years old and she lives in Eldama Ravine, a town that was significantly impacted by the outbreaks of violence in Kenya in 2007–2008. She is a resourceful woman who moves from pillar to post because she wants the best for her family. Gladys is a mixed farmer who has farmed for the past twenty years.

She is seeking a 50,000 KES loan through Kiva's field partner Juhudi Kilimo to purchase farm inputs (fertilizer and seed) to boost her yields and improve her sales, so that she can earn enough money to educate her children. Being a rural mom and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around Eldama Ravine, is very challenging. However, Gladys feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. She is always working to improve her living conditions. Her biggest dream is to become independent and support her aging parents, secure her children’s future, and buy a home. Keep her flames of success burning in 2020 with just a loan.
