Monicah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as seeds and high-quality fertilizer in order to improve her production.

Monicah's story

Monicah (a 40-year-old mom of five) is a hardworking woman who has always struggled to sustain her family, being the only breadwinner. However, with her perseverance and determination, she decided not to give up and thus ventured into farming. Today, thanks to her enthusiasm and natural abilities, she can secure two meals every day for her family.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is far below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in input availability.

Monicah has chosen to take this loan to buy inputs to improve her farm. The additional income she is anticipating will be used to improve her living conditions.
