A loan helped to buy fertilizers and expand her tea-farming business.

Emmy's story

Emmy (42-year-old mom of four) is a motivated smallholder farmer from the Litein area. This is a luxuriant tea- and maize-producing region in the Rift Valley province of Kenya. She is married and blessed with beautiful children to raise and educate.

Emmy has little time to make money to provide financial support for her family. Her primary sources of income are milk, tea farming, and some personal businesses that she engages in.

Emmy is seeking a 40,000 KES loan from Kiva lenders to buy fertilizers and expand her tea-farming business. Tea farming offers employment opportunities to thousands of smallholder farmers in the Litein area, and it’s for this reason that Juhudi has teamed up with Kiva to give access to a loan that will help her to expand her tea farm into a highly profitable business.

With your loan, Emmy’s family will benefit from the growth of her business. This will not only increase their income but also improve their living standards.

Lenders, if there is someone you should consider lending to this year, that person is Emmy! Emmy is so thankful to have a chance like this Kiva loan. She hopes for your help.
