Nancy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a single woman borrower with good credit standing to buy farm inputs to improve her productivity, leading to increased profits.

Nancy's story

Just like any other mother would do, Nancy (63 years old and single mom of three pictured in her simple house) has always cared for her children. She is a farmer from Matuu, a town whose surroundings have vast agricultural potential with numerous small farms and also vast agricultural enterprises. Nancy is a mixed farmer who has farmed for many years.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Kiva's partner Juhudi Kilimo ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in the availability of inputs.

Nancy is requesting this loan so that she can buy hybrid seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to use on her farm. She believes that these inputs will help her improve her farm yield and therefore increase her income level. She is confident that she will be able to repay her loan and expand her farm. This loan will surely empower this hardworking woman.

Support her and show love to a mother and help her prosper in her life.
