A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, to improve her production and make more income for her family.

Dorcas's story

Dorcas is a 23-year-old mother of 2 children living in Bomet, a land of seemingly never-ending beauty.

Ever since she started farming, Dorcas has made tremendous steps in her life. Dorcas’s determination to persist without giving up hope is her major weapon in fighting poverty. She works hard to meet the needs of her small family, including her children and her farm.

The biggest problem that farmers from her village face is the huge deficit in access to agricultural inputs, meaning those farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya.

Dorcas is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan. She also hopes to improve the condition of her house.
