Ana is 62 years old. For as long as she can remember, she worked with her parents to make morrales (backpacks). She and her siblings worked to help her parents to cover their home expenses.

She got married at the age of 16 and now has seven children. Her husband worked and covered their household expenses. She is a housewife and made and sold güipils.

Her sister-in-law told her about Chajulense Association of Women United for Life. The Association helps women get credits.

This year she got her fourth credit. She has invested all of her credits in expanding her knitting activity. With this years credit, she will buy thread to continue expanding her knitting activity.

Ana is the leader of Ixil Group 1. The group is consists of 6 women, all of the Ixil Maya ethnicity. The group will use their loan for textile (34%), agriculture (33%), and retail (33%). On average, each member of the group has 5 children. The average age of the members of the group is 45 years old. 50% of the group is illiterate, 33% ended their primary school education early, and 17% graduated as nurses.
