Gail's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to pay ongoing expenses during the COVID-19 shutdown, and then come back strong!
I've been in the food industry my whole life, citing "restaurant owner" as an early childhood dream. I've also had a constant thread of volunteer work alongside my food career. I've been a mediator for the last 12 years, working in community dispute resolution; and was active in foster care support as a court-appointed advocate for a foster youth. I also served on the City of Oakland task force for commercially sexually exploited children. I'm training for a position at the Stanford Business School as a leadership facilitator, currently; and I do consulting work for SBDC to support other entrepreneurs across the northern California region. Running a restaurant allows so many parts of my personality and skill set to shine. I love that my days demand problem solving; team leadership and mentoring; design; bookkeeping; strategy; public-facing role modeling; social justice work. My work at Liba is at the heart of everything I do, and I'm trying hard to weather the storm of this virus so that my team and I can get back to work, in a financially sustainable way. I've built this business every day for the past 11 years. I don't want to stop now, and I'm working hard from home, sheltering-in-place, to come back strong.
