A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

'Ilaisaane's story

Ilaisaane is a 40-year-old mother of four and a wife of a farmer. They live at their own home. The kids attend school and the eldest is at the university.

Ilaisaane runs a weaving business where she only weaves taovalas (women mats) and sells them out of her home. She advertises her taovalas through Facebook. She only weaves taovalas because she thinks that weaving taovalas takes little time and makes really good money. Not only that, but she weaves on her own, and weaving a whole mat consumes most of her time. So she will just stick to the taovala weaving.

She has been weaving for more than ten years. She is originally from the island of Vava'u. When she needs pandanus for her weaving, she sails to Vava'u to get them. Right now, she is done travelling and will borrow a loan in order to buy herself some pandanus.
