A loan helped to purchase a wooden-house and rent it to tourists.

Manana's story

Manana is a 60-year-old woman from the village Tushurebi, where she lives with her husband. Sadly, for lack of economic resources and because he had to start working at a very young age, Manana was unable to study a professional career. Manana and her husband work hard on their dairy and poultry farming. They sell agricultural products at local market.

As the family has quite seasonal income, Manana decided to start a tourism business and seek for credit among local financial institutions, but her attempts was unsuccessful because of her poor living conditions. The startup program, that is joint initiative between Kiva and Credo, enables rural poor and inexperienced people to get a loan for starting or re-starting businesses.

Her application was approved under the framework of this program to get a loan of 16600 GEL for purchasing a wooden-house, that Manan will put into their yard and rent it to tourists seasonally.

The loan will greatly assist Manana and her husband and they will be able to improve the economic situation and make a better style of life.
