Ercilia Cristina's story
The city of Portoviejo was impacted by an earthquake on 16th April 2016. The city produces an abundance of vegetables, greens and tropical fruits for domestic consumption. Ercilia Cristina is 37 years old, she is married with four children two of which are adults and independent. Two are aged between 14 and 8 years and are studying in college and school. Her husband is a soldier. They live in a rented home. Ercilia makes a living selling a variety of clothing for women, men and children. She purchases clothing from various distributors who give her competitive prices allowing her to make a good income. She sells merchandise at home and by visiting the homes of family members, friends and customers. She offers credit terms and collects monthly. She will use this loan to buy pajamas, jeans, trousers, shorts etc. Her dream is to have her own home and that her family enjoys good health.
