Dolores Catalina's story

The canton of Rocafuerte is well known locally and in other places for its traditional artisanal candy that is made with recipes passed down from generation to generation. Its people are very skilled with their hands. They make decorative objects with palm ivory, and they plant rice.

Dolores Catalina is 42 years old. She is a widow and has four children, of whom two are independent adults, and two are 17 and 12 and go to school.

Dolores maintains her restaurant at the market, where she prepares and sells breakfasts, lunches, and snacks from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., or until she has sold everything. Her customers come because they know that she always has traditional dishes from the area, and they are very of good quality.

With the new loan, she will purchase groceries to continue preparing the treat of her traditional dishes. Her dreams are to have her own business location and that her family is very healthy.
