Jiguiya Group's story

Moussocoura is the client who is watering the onions in the photo. She is a member of this group and 49 years old. She didn't have the opportunity to go to school. She is married and mother of one child who goes to school, and has been doing market gardening for over 10 yeras.

Moussocoura is on her second loan cycle with RMCR for an amount of 125,000CFA. She buys her inputs (seeds and fertiliser) in the rural markets of the area and resells her produce in the same rural markets.

The income generated enables her to help her husband meet family expenses (healthcare, school fees, clothing, and so on). Her husband also works in market gardening. The problems she often faces are the failure of nurseries, the damage caused by certain insects, wells drying up, and poor sales.

She turned to RMCR to develop her market gardening. In the future, she wishes to continue working with RMCR in order to generate more profits to be able to raise sheep and goats. She enjoys market gardening for the profits it generates.

NB the fourth person in the photo to the left is a member who received training but after a health problem was not able to be in the group; she will rejoin the group for the next loan cycle hence she agreed to be in the photo.
