Vanessa's loan finished fundraising, but these similar borrowers need your support
A loan helped grow my small business of helping people go zero-waste.
Vanessa Pope has worked as a waitress in France, as a teacher in Somaliland, as an assistant and event planner in Los Angeles, as a chef in New York, and for three outstanding non-profits in Princeton (Center For Supportive Schools, Princeton in Africa, The Waldorf School of Princeton). An educator by profession, she hopes to use social media, books, and hands-on activities to raise awareness about single-use plastics. FHP was founded to ease the transition for cafes and restaurants to sustainable practices. “I have lived and worked in Oakland for four years. I began running around Lake Merritt the day that I arrived and have made the loop over a thousand times. For two years I ran a trash clean-up group at the lake, but realizing that the flow of trash would never stop, I decided to work with local businesses, schools, and individuals to stop trash where it starts. We ask folks to remember their reusable mugs— but we also hope to start a larger conversation about worker’s rights, equality in pay for the service sector, investment in high quality education, and healthy opportunities made available to all citizens. We seek to bring the “For Here” experience to people from all walks of life.”
