Senoras Famosas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy chicks and pigs.

Senoras Famosas Group's story

Animal husbandry is a popular business for Maya women in Guatemala. Poultry, pigs and cattle are raised on small farms and often sold to create income.

A young, single 23-year-old, Francisca is an only child who lives with her mother and grandparents and participates in the household by contributing income from her animal husbandry business.

She raises chickens and pigs that she sells in the local market. Easter week is a time of the year when many families use chicken or pork in their holiday recipes.

Francisca is requesting her second Kiva loan to buy chicks and pigs at the wholesale level.

Francisca is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank Senoras Famosas that includes seven other ladies who live in a rural area in the department/state of Quiche.

Their monthly educational trainings, part of the Microcredit Plus program of loans, education and health care services, are vital to their success.

Information about budgeting, planning, investing and savings helps the women with their convenience stores, traditional textile and animal husbandry businesses.

Topics like nutrition, hygiene and health help them with their personal and family lives. Every other month, the women have access to health services like blood pressure and screenings, family planning consults and PAP smears.

Francisca and her friends send their gratitude to Kiva investors from all parts of the world for funding their much-appreciated loans! Thank you.
