but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy maize seeds and tomatoes to plant.

Passy's Group's story

Passy's group is comprised of 2 hardworking women. Passy is 23 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Njeru region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children with 1 of them currently in school. For the past 3 years, Passy has been working hard to manage her agricultural business, which does agricultural farming in cash crops like tomatoes and maize.

To help expand her business, Passy has requested a share of a loan of 1,400,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy maize seeds and tomatoes to plant, and it will help Passy to generate greater profits as her production will increase and create more revenue. With this she will manage to provide other family necessities. Passy hopes that in the future she will be able to own a stall for agricultural products in the main market near her home.

Passy is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to micro-finance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
