Mujeres De Los Perales Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy personal care and cleaning products in order to restock the shelves of her store.

Mujeres De Los Perales Group's story

Adelaida, the President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres de los Perales,” is the proud owner of a convenience store in the department/state of Sacatepequez. These small shops are frequently found in most neighborhoods in rural Guatemala and carry items most needed for everyday use.

Adelaida found it necessary to begin her business because of a hardship encountered by her husband. Because she has developed good business management skills and her own hard work and determination, the business has grown and now it is time to restock the shelves. Adelaida requests her first Kiva loan to buy personal care and cleaning products, as well as basic staples like rice, coffee and sugar.

At 24 years old, Adelaida wants to meet the needs of her 5-year-old son, including his future education. Along with six other Maya Kaqchikel women in the Trust Bank, she participates in monthly educational sessions, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and health care services. The educational sessions are vital to the success of the ladies. Themes are drawn from four areas: business, health, family, and women. Because the public healthcare system is inadequate, Adelaida and her friends are very grateful to have access to bi-monthly health care services. They can have blood pressure/blood sugar screening, PAP smears, and family planning consultations.

Kiva investors, partnering with Friendship Bridge, are highly valued by these ladies. Thank you!
