Peter's story

Peter and his wife live in a refugee camp in Kenya with their two kids. Since 2014, they have run a food store which is supplying affordable goods to refugees and the host community. Peter makes about $700 per month as profit, and he plans to expand by opening a second store for his wife to manage. Being among the top businesses in the area, Peter plans to be a supplier to other refugees and Kenya–owned retail shops in the area.

His business profit has helped him buy a motorbike that is generating an average monthly revenue of $60. Peter operates his business in his own building that is strategically located. The location attracts both refugee and Kenyan clients within the camp. Financing Peter will enable him to increase the stock of rice, Irish potatoes and beans which are among the food staples in Kakuma refugee camp.
