Eunice's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a single mother to buy high quality certified seeds and fertilizer in order to improve production, generate more income, and improve her quality of life.

Eunice's story

Failure has never crossed Eunice’s mind (a 61-year-old single mom of 4), and that is why she thirsts for success. She hails from the Eldoret area of Kenya, and thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her family a good start.

Eunice has a farm where she grows crops, and she also earns income from a personal business (she is pictured above in her shop).

The Eldoret area is a favorable one for crop farming, so Eunice is seeking a 100,000 KES loan through Kiva's field partner Juhudi Kilimo. She will use the loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer and seeds to enable her to grow more crops, reap maximum profits, and expand her crop business.

Being a woman from a marginalized community and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around Eldoret, is very challenging. Nevertheless, Eunice feels relieved knowing that there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like herself.

She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions, but her biggest dreams are to become independent and support her family by herself, and to secure her children’s future.
