A loan helped a man be the first minority owner of a national franchise business in his community.

Shane's story

Growing up in Louisiana, I was a lot like my father, Margarito Hernandez, who operated a bread truck delivery route for a bread company delivering bread to local stores in Louisiana. I realized I loved running a bread route too where I got to interact with people and make sales in person. I enjoyed working with the small business owners and getting to know customers. Like my dad I love people and am a natural salesman. However, working 90 hours a week for many years took too much time away from my wife and children. Therefore, at the end of 2015, I learned about Snap-On tools, a 100 year-old company looking for someone to run a tool sales route in Northwest Arkansas. I scheduled a “ride along” with a local dealer to get a feel for the job and see what it required. It was at that moment I knew that this was the job for me! I sold my bread route truck in Louisiana and moved my family and I to Springdale, Arkansas.
