A loan helped To increase liquidity in Mobile Money Kiosk.
Desire is a refugee residing in Nakivale refugee settlement. Desire left his home Country – the Democratic Republic of Congo - 4 years ago following insecurities in his community. Desire is married with 4 children who live with him in the settlement. On arriving in Nakivale, Desire opened up a mobile money business to support mobile money transactions for his fellow refugees. His business has grown rapidly since then; he currently makes up to 60 transactions every day. Recently, Desire was among the mobile money agents in Nakivale that were tasked to support the World Food Program’s (WFP) cash-for-food transfer project, by supporting cash withdraws for refugees. The big challenge desire faces is having access to liquid cash at his kiosk, due to the very large demand for cash by refugees. Desire is requesting for a loan to be able to have enough liquid cash to make transactions for his customers on the WFP project. With this loan, Desire hopes to increase his daily mobile money transactions to 150 per day, and his incomes by 100%. His dream is to grow his business and provide sustainable mobile money services to all refugees including remittances like Western Union, Money Gram etc.
