Mujeres De La Florida Group's story
Lilliam, the women with the white top who holds up her repayment schedule, is a member of the village bank "Mujeres de la Florida" (Women from Florida). She and her husband Juan and their 3 daughters live in a coffee farm where Juan has worked since he was a child. During the pruning season, he is responsible for spraying the foliage and transplanting coffee seedlings. Lilliam has a goal to build her own house. With her earnings and her previous loans, she was able to buy a plot of land where she now grows coffee. With this loan, she will start the construction of her new house and buy clothes that she will sell in neighboring farms. This young 28 year old women has sought her independence. Her 10, 8 and 7 year old daughters go to school; the eldest is in third grade and the two youngest are both in the first grade of primary school. She is certain she will get financing in order to pursue her projects and the women in her group believe in her.
