Association Des Femmes And Ligueye Group's story
Yande is the representative of the And Ligueye group (which means "to associate to work together" in Wolof, the local language most spoken in Senegal) and she is the one who is in the middle of the group photo, holding the cereal products and dressed in a traditional multicolored outfit. She is 58 years old, married and the mother of a 14 year old child who goes to school. Her husband is retired. She sources her raw materials in the Gambia and in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. To sell her products, she takes advantage of regional fairs, the orders she receives and also sales on the spot. With this loan, she plans to buy millet, corn, bissap, monkey bread (which is the fruit of the baobab tree) and tamarind by the bag. Her experience of more than 20 years with this activity will allow her to increase her activity and eventually improve the standard of living of her family, particularly the education and health of her child. She has two stores which she would like to transform into cereal supply stores in the near future.
