Margaret's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as certified quality seeds and fertilizer, to improve her horticulture farming and use the profit to improve her standard of living.

Margaret's story

Margaret is a 35-year-old mother of three children living in Nyahururu, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands which favor large-scale grain farming, dairy and horticultural farming. She is a smallholder farmer and a mother working very hard to change her family’s fortunes.

She has been farming for the past ten years. Over this time, she has gathered much experience and is considered among the best farmers in her village. Her primary sources of income have been goat milk and crops. Margaret is very passionate about farming and loves cultivating her farm.

Although she makes a profit from farming, Margaret's standard of living is not comfortable. She has always wanted to increase her income by buying quality seeds and other farm inputs. She has requested this loan in order to make these investments and improve her horticulture crop farming.

The Nyahururu area, one of the country's most populated regions, has a high demand for food. This means that Margaret could increase her profits by meeting the existing demand for crop products. Margaret is grateful that Juhudi Kilimo is partnering with Kiva lenders to help hardworking and honest women farmers like herself turn their farming dreams into reality through training and loan financing.

Light up her flames of hope for success with just a loan.
