Vyonne's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a single mom to buy another dairy cow of a quality breed to satisfy the demand for milk and use the profits to support her children, who depend on her.

Vyonne's story

Vyonne (a 37-year-old single mom of two), pictured above in her side hustle business, is a woman with an unending desire to achieve. She is a resourceful woman who works hard to raise her children despite the tough living conditions in her neighborhood. She is a role model, a mentor, and an inspiration to many farmers in her village because of her resilience (despite personal challenges) and passion to support her children as the primary caregiver.

Vyonne enjoyed the support of her parents in her start-up business, but now she works independently and makes her own decisions. She says that she was able to make a profit from her milk and crops in the previous season and she has even better hopes for this season.

Vyonne is seeking a loan to buy a good breed of dairy cow to increase her milk productivity. She intends to feed the cow with fodder crops from her farm, buy another cow in the future to breed, and create a big herd. This is a wise idea, since demand for dairy cow milk and meat is rising in the Maua region where she lives.

Lending to this smallholder farmer provides an opportunity for her to expand her farming and inspire more women of her age. Her children will benefit from this loan since the profits will be used to pay their school fees so that they can have uninterrupted learning for a brighter future.
