Nua Ngam 19 Group's story

Nguyen is 25 years old. She is a young Thai ethnic woman who is the mother of three daughters. She lives with her husband, her parents and three daughters in a Thai traditional stilt house in a poor and remote area of Vietnam.

Her daughters are still very young, with her first daughter being in 1st grade, the second one in kindergarten, and the youngest still a baby. Nguyen and her husband have to work very hard and engage in many activities, such as growing rice, corn, cassava, raising fish, a buffalo and a cow to sustain their children's education as well as life expenses. Since she became a partner of the Anh Chi Em program, Nguyen has been very interested in training sessions and counseling through which she can get more knowledge and access new farming techniques. This is the fourth time she has taken out a loan from the Anh Chi Em program. This time Nguyen plans to buy a cow. She hopes that the cow will grow up fast and in good health, so that she can sell calves. In the picture, she is the woman on the right.
