Jocelyn M. is a 42-year old married woman who lives in Hda Bearin Brgy Linao Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. She earns her living by buying and selling coconut wine, running a cafeteria, selling barbecue and pig fattening. Jocelyn’s husband Samuel works as a guard at a sugarcane plantation. They have 6 children who are between 6 and 23 years old, 2 of their children are currently going to school and help their parents in the business as part of their daily chores, while the rest work to help the family. Jocelyn joined NWTF-Project Dungganon in 2000 in the hope that she would be able to help her husband improve the quality of life of their family. With the help of her loans from NWTF-PD she has been able to increase their family income by engaging in multiple business activities of buying and selling coconut wine, running a cafeteria, selling barbecue and pig fattening. Now she earns an average monthly income of PHP 18,800 from her business activities. Jocelyn is a member of good standing. Her previous loan of PHP 28,000 was used to fund operations of her various business activities, and it had a positive impact in both the business and the family’s living conditions. Now she is borrowing her 26th loan cycle in the amount of PHP 29,000, which she intends to use on all of her business concerns, in varying degrees. Jocelyn is working hard to achieve her dreams and aspirations for her family, which is to provide them with a brighter future and a more comfortable life.
