Mildred's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more stock for her salon business such as hair creams, blowers, and wigs.

Mildred's story

Mildred is a 33-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her siblings and her two children in Samfya district in Zambia. She runs a hair salon at the market. With her first Kiva loan, Mildred purchased more stock to increase her sales. She used the profits she earned to expand her business capital and repay her loan in full. Mildred is now requesting a second loan to purchase more stock. She plans to use the profits she earns to expand her business and further her education.

Mildred will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating classes from CAMFED’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build children’s self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school.
