Susan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more chicks and chicken feed.

Susan's story

Susan is a 22-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her mother and child in Samfya district in Zambia. She received a kiva loan before and she repaid it. Susan runs her own poultry business, keeping broiler chickens at her home.

With her first Kiva loan, Susan purchased more stock, such as chickens and chicken feed, to subsequently increase her sales. She used the profit she earned to expand her business capital. Susan is now requesting a second loan in order to purchase more stock. She plans to use the profit she earns to expand her business, support her family and vulnerable people in the community.

Susan will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Transition Guide, supporting other young women who are just entering CAMFED’s alumnae organization, CAMA, by delivering an orientation course with weekly sessions on topics including health, financial literacy, and career guidance.
