A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer and seeds, to help improve production and break the chains of poverty in her family.

Jacinta's story

Jacinta is a 61-year old mother of four children living in Nyeri, a town where the main economic activities include agricultural processing, particularly in horticulture and tea. She is a mixed farmer who has farmed for the last five years. In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high cost of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the cost of land acquisition and inputs, which have skyrocketed.

To meet the high cost of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions, which sometimes impose very complicated procedures in loan distributions. Some farmers, and especially women, end up in hopelessness and discouraged about investing in agriculture.

Jacinta is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fulfill the increasing demand for food in the market, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve the quality of life for her family. Helping Jacinta through lending will help lift her family from the chains of poverty!
