Elsa Reyna's story
Elsa Reyna A. G., 45 years old, lives in the village of San Juan Mesas of the municipality of San Pablo Tacachico, in the department of La Libertad. She lives with her husband, a farmer, and their six children, the eldest five of which are day laborers, while only the youngest goes to school. Elsa sells clothing for men, women, and children, as well as cosmetics and creams for the hair and body. She sells her products door-to-door and must walk many kilometers each morning in order to sell the clothing. She's requesting a loan to buy more clothing in a wider variety of sizes and colors, as well as buying cosmetics of various price points to improve her sales. Increasing her earnings is a major goal for her, since she has a large family that is struggling to get ahead.
