Joan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for crop cultivation for this woman with a good credit history.

Joan's story

To improve her housing conditions and to be able to offer a good education to her two cute-looking children are the goals that motivate Joan to get up and work hard. She is a loving mother and a rural smallholder farmer from the Kapsowar area of Kenya. She is married to a fellow farmer. Her family's main income source is milk from their dairy farm. However, they are also involved in other agricultural activities such as growing corn and vegetables. She also has a personal business (pictured in her business above).

The biggest problem that farmers from Kapsowar face is the huge deficit in terms of access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Kapsowar, like Joan, can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Joan is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds, fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs.

This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market, and in the process, generate more income to repay the loan and improve the quality of life for her family. She also hopes to improve the conditions of her house.

Help this mother to accomplish all her dreams with just a loan!
