Jackline's story

Celebrate a mother with a loan in this special month as we gear up to celebrating women’s day. Leading a comfortable lifestyle has always been the dream of Jackline, a 29 year old mom of 4 who is a Kiva borrower. She is a smallholder farmer who has worked with a lot of care and perseverance to achieve her objective. Today, she has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business. Jackline never had a formal college education and is content with the farming lifestyle. Her childhood was very challenging, and because of this, she promised herself that she would work hard to get out of poverty. Jackline is seeking a loan of 140,000 KES, which she will use to pay for farm inputs to grow more crops on the farm. It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk her limited available resources to expand the farm's business. With your help, Jackline will be able to pay the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion. She will invest a significant portion of the profits back into the business to fuel growth since she wants to set a good example and provide a good foundation for her children. She really hopes for your help and contribution, and she thanks you in advance.
