A loan helped to buy grain to resell.

01_Diender Group's story

This group of five women is from the Banc Villageois that was set up in 2011. They live in the same village and have good relationships of solidarity, kinship, and friendship with each other. They have paid back many loans on their due dates.

Coumba, on the right of the photo raising her hand, is the representative and is 57 years old. She is a married woman and the mother of seven children: four boys, three girls, three of whom are still in school.

Coumba runs a small business selling various products and local grains. She stocks up from the wholesalers and resells in her neighborhood, near the national highway. She has three years of experience in this sector. With her loan, she will buy seven sacks of millet, five sacks of corn, five sacks of black eyed peas, and 10 sacks of cattle feed, which she counts on reselling with good profits. She sells her products without difficulty.

Her profits will allow her to participate in the household expenses, to pay for her children’s education, and also to save with the Banc Villageois.
