María Dolores's story

María is a 30-year-old lady who is in a common-law marriage. She has one son, who is two months old. Her husband is a mason. She lives in Tosagua, a place characterized by its people who engage in agriculture and livestock.

María is an enterprising person. Day by day, she looks for ways to generate more income for her household. She works at an association of livestock farmers. Because the economic situation is a bit difficult, in her free time she also engages in selling clothing for women and men and Tupperware (plastic products for the home or personal use) by catalog.

She works alone from her home or offers her products for sale to her neighbors and friends from Monday to Sunday, leaving items with customers on credit and collecting on her merchandise every 10 days.

She will invest in dresses, bathing suits, reusable water bottles, plastic food containers, sets of spoons, and other items. Her dream is to have her family for all her life.
