A loan helped to buy chicks, vaccines and animal feed.

06_Santhiaba Sud Group's story

This group is made up of six women who share strong bonds of solidarity and mutual assistance. They live in the same neighborhood and took the opportunity to join the Banc Villageois when it was established in the village in December 2007. Their main businesses are retail and poultry farming.

Mrs. Kalla, age 47, is the group's featured borrower. In the photograph, she's standing on the far right with her hand raised. She's married and the mother of three children, including one five-year-old girl. Mrs. Kalla raises poultry. She has a lot of experience in this business, which she's been running for several years.

She foresees using this loan to buy boxes of chicks, vaccines and animal feed. She will raise the chicks for 50 days and then resell them. She uses her profits to strengthen her savings and help her husband run the household.
