Margaret's story

Greetings from Kitale, Kenya! This is Margaret, a 59-year-old mom of 5 and a farmer who is a picture of beauty and has a captivating smile.

Margaret is the true definition of a hard worker and a happy mother. She is a farmer in Kitale, an area endowed with natural streams. Margaret grows maize and engages in dairy farming. She produces milk and crops for commercial purposes as opposed to many rural farmers who produce for subsistence.

Margaret also grows maize for food and sales. These commercial activities place her in a better position to engage in other agricultural businesses, which she does. Margaret dreams that through farming, she will be able to pull away from poverty and see to it that all her children successfully complete their studies.

Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, has extended its services to the remote areas in the Kitale region of Kenya, and their staff are keen to ensure that hardworking women like Margaret benefit from loans that should enable them to purchase farming inputs.

Margaret is seeking an emergency loan to buy farm inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. Through this intervention, she will be able to improve the quality of her farm products and attract more buyers, leading to more profits. Through increased profits, she wants to pay tuition fees for her children as the new semester begins.
