Aisha's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy braids, hair oil, and weaves.

Aisha's story

Aisha is 22 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has one child who is currently in school. For the past one year, Aisha has been working hard to manage her beauty salon, in which she plaits hair, braids, weaves, gives treatments, and does retouches.

To help expand her business, Aisha has requested a loan of 1,200,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy braids, hair oil, and weaves, and will help Aisha to generate greater profits. Aisha's business will expand, hence more profits, and she will be able to cater for basic needs at home, thereby improving their standard of living. Aisha hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land and build rentals.

Aisha is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
