Cathrine's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase a high-yielding dairy goat to increase her milk-vending business, and make her dream of future success a reality.

Cathrine's story

Cathrine is a 32 year old mother of two children living in Nkubu, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. She is very determined to transform her dream of becoming a successful farmer into reality.

In her village, poverty is very common among residents, especially those who still look forward to getting a white collar job. Cathrine is very hardworking, despite the many responsibilities that await her. Cathrine has been practicing dairy goat farming on a small inherited piece of land for the past many years.

From Kiva lenders, she is asking to borrow 20,000 KES to purchase another high-yielding dairy goat to increase her milk-vending business. This goat will boost milk production on the farm. As a result, she will have more goat milk for both consumption and sales.

With the money from the additional sales, she will be able to service her loan on time. With the increased income from the loan, Cathrine plans to settle the high farming cost of production. In the long run, her family will realize an improved standard of living.
