Jackline's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for crop cultivation for this woman with a good credit history.

Jackline's story

Greetings from Kitale, Kenya! Jackline (pictured in her side hustle business) is a 28-year-old, mother of three, who has been carrying out her parental role selflessly. She is an honest, hard-working, and loyal person, who is completely dedicated to her work to ensure her children never lack a meal on the table. Her main sources of livelihood include trading in milk and vegetables.

Unlike most microfinances in Kenya that have imposed very complicated procedures in fund acquisition, thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient. Through this intervention, movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty.

Jackline is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as seeds, in order to grow more crops and use the profits from her farm to improve the living conditions of her children. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve the quality of life of her family. She also hopes to improve the condition of her house.
