Claudia Patricia's story

Claudia Patricia is a 42-year old widow with three children ages 8, 13 and 17. The children are all in school. She lives in San Pedro Las Huertas, Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala.

She is starting her third cycle with the Namaste Creating Prosperity Program. She completed her first two cycles a few years ago, but asked to return now to get more financial literacy classes and advice from a personal business advisor. She wants to get her business moving forward again.

Her business is cooking and selling food. Claudia Patricia sells what she cooks from the front of her home, which is located on a busy street very close to a large factory. The workers at the factory like her food and she has regular customers. She also sells to students and others who pass by. In her previous cycles she learned to better manage her business, to keep her business and personal money separate, and to reinvest her profits.

She will spend her loan money to buy a microwave oven and also vegetables and meat to cook. Her business goal is to enlarge her little business space and become even better known in the community. Her personal goal is to see her children graduate and get good jobs.

When she started with Namaste, Claudia Patricia's monthly net profit was 1,400 Guatemalan quetzales (GTQ)(USD $182). At the beginning of this cycle it was 6,755 GTQ (USD $877). And she hopes to increase that to 7,375 GTQ (USD $958) by the end of this cycle.
