Olivia's Group

Matete, Kakamega County, Kenya / Agriculture

Olivia's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy cost-efficient maize seeds and fertilizer for the coming harvesting season, as well as a solar light.

Olivia's Group's story

Olivia is 50 years old and the mother of four children. She is the leader of a group of five farmers in the Matete District of Kenya.

Olivia has farmed with the One Acre Fund since 2012. She joined largely as a result of her desire to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods. Although she described her last harvest as good, she believes she can have a better one this year by continuing to work with the One Acre Fund. Olivia has also decided to buy a solar light with funds from this loan. She is very excited about this because the solar light will allow her to reduce her consumption of paraffin fuel and therefore save money.

Obtaining this loan means that Olivia's group will be able to receive a total of four solar lights, as well as farming supplies to plant a total of on acre.
