A loan helped to buy seeds and start horticulture farming in order to satisfy the ready-market for horticulture products and improve her family's living conditions.

Hellen's story

Hellen (37 years old, mom of 4) is an ever-smiling mother whose main dream is to improve the conditions in her home. She has a lovely family that she really adores. Hellen will do anything good to prevent them from ever having to go to bed with hungry stomachs.

Hellen is from the Eldoret area of Kenya. She never had the opportunity to advance her education and obtain a white-collar job, but this reality did not stop her from wanting to succeed in life. She has been farming for the past seven years. During this time, she has gained much experience and all of the farming techniques are at her fingertips.

Hellen practices mixed farming (dairy, animal, and crop farming). With her profits, she has managed to take care of her family’s needs.

Hellen is very enterprising and seeks a loan of 80,000 KES to buy seeds and start horticulture farming in order to satisfy the ready-market for horticulture products and improve her family's living conditions. She wants to take advantage of favourable weather patterns, a good road network in her village, good soil, and a ready market for horticulture products. This will increase her profit.

Juhudi Kilimo is partnering with Kiva and its lenders to help hardworking and honest women like Hellen to turn their farming dreams into reality by offering training and financing. She expresses her thanks in advance for the help and participation of lenders.
