Jane's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy farming inputs to improve her production, make more profits and, as the only voice of hope for her children, give her family a better life.

Jane's story

Greetings from Kapsowar, Kenya!

Jane, a 45-year-old married mom of six, has always used the limited resources in her possession for the benefit of her children. She has gained respect in her village because of her hard work and determination, especially in caring for her children. With very few resources, she has pulled through.

She is involved in dairy and crop farming and she also has a side sales business. Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her children a good start in life by providing them with a good-quality education.

Access to modern, quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seeds allocated by the government are way below the needs of farmers.

Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in input availability.

Jane is seeking a loan to buy farming inputs such as nutrient-rich fertilizers and quality seeds to use on her farm to improve her production, make more profits, and pay her children's school fee debt.

As the only voice of hope for her children, she wants to be independent and support her family by herself.
