Shadrack's Group

Teso, Busia County, Kenya / Agriculture

Shadrack's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Shadrack's Group's story

Shadrack, pictured above, has been a farmer for more than 20 years, and is now proud to represent his group of 11 farmers in Teso District. He is 57 years old, married and has four children.

Shadrack likes to think of himself as a very hardworking individual. He has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2017 and decided to represent his group because he wanted to be more active in his community. He says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that he has been able to consistently feed his family. Shadrack plans to use the profits from this coming season to send his children to school.

In total, Shadrack ’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 10.75 acres of land. Given that a member of the group will also be purchasing a solar light with this loan, the group will also receive one solar light.
